Request data deletion
You can ask us to delete private data held by SondeFox. You do not need a SondeFox account or the app to make a request.
Email [email protected] with the subject “SondeFox data deletion request.” Tell us which private support capture or message you want deleted and provide a capture key, approximate upload date, or the email address you used to contact us, if available. Please do not send a password, a new capture, or precise location data just to make this request.
What we can delete
We can locate and delete private support captures that you sent to SondeFox through the app’s diagnostic tools, and support messages that we hold. We may reply to confirm the request or ask for enough information to identify the right record. If we cannot match a capture or verify that you are entitled to request its deletion, we will explain what is needed. You may also use this address to ask what SondeFox-held data we have about you.
Private support uploads are stored on SondeFox’s Cloudflare-hosted debug service. Its object storage is configured to delete completed capture objects after 30 days and abort unfinished multipart uploads after seven days. You can request earlier deletion. These storage rules do not automatically delete email, service logs, local copies on your device, or copies you exported or shared elsewhere; tell us about SondeFox-held messages or other records in your request.
What we cannot recall
If you opted in to SondeHub uploads, telemetry, station or chase-car position, and recovery reports may have entered SondeHub’s public stream. SondeFox cannot remove copies held by SondeHub or downstream projects. Turning off uploads prevents future contributions; it does not erase past public records. Contact SondeHub about data held by SondeHub.
Map, store, and hosting providers, including Google and Cloudflare, handle their own service data under their policies. A request to SondeFox does not delete those providers’ copies. If you exported a capture or sent it to someone else, we cannot recall their copy.
Data on your device
You can delete local captures in the app where that control is available, revoke device permissions, and turn off optional uploads. Deleting a local capture does not delete a server copy already sent to SondeFox, so email us if you want that copy removed. Uninstalling the app removes its local app data under your device’s rules but does not withdraw previously sent data.
